I think Thailand is seriously overlooked as a holiday destination. The people are very warm, the sites are breath-taking. Truly is a wonderful and contrasting culture. I've only been twice, but from what I've seen its best to do it in style- no point going for cheap holiday packages. Bring more money than you need and go to luxury/5 star/4 star/resorts. The beach hotels are amazing.Thailand luxury hotels are reasonably priced for what they are. I stayed at the four seasons last time. Fantastic views!
If the market was less flooded with holiday scams, Thailand would be the place of choice, time and time again. WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE, GO FOR QUALITY, NOT PRICE But mainly, just enjoy yourself

Isaan is really an interesting destination.
Some of the best Festivals in Thailand occur in Isaan. The "rocket Festival is just one. Simply unbelievable!! This event is held in May each year all over isaan. Its something to see, 2 tonne home made rockets hurtling into the sky. (and have got to come on down again, get ready to run,) haha
