Default Taxi Meter Corruption in Chiang Mai

Thailand has so much corruption.

One example is in Chiang Mai where the Taxi Meter service does not have follow the law because they pay the police to shield them from the law.

For example, in Chiang Mai all taxi drivers (meter taxi) are required to follow Thai law and turn on and use their meters, but the refuse to do it and charge prices more expense than Bangkok, up to 3 times more, for short tips in the city.

The drivers say that "Chiang Mai is small" and "Chiang Mai has few customers" so this justified them to break the law.

It is useless to inform the police because it is rumored the police get money from the taxis.
