Not your casual tourist on a yearly vacation, I’ve staying in 4 and 5 star hotels all over the world, and many up and down Thailand, for nearly 5 years. I think this is an objective review and is more accurate that the other ones. First of all, the location of this property is on a very busy “Sai 2″ (Second Way) street in South Pattaya. There is a lot of traffic and noise here. There are a lot of bars, massage business, and all the other famous night and day life of Pattaya. This is OK, but the noise did keep me awake in the room.

Speaking of the rooms, they are nice. I stayed in a suite, and they gave me a complimentary bottle of cheap tasting sparkling wine. The Internet was free. The room was lovely, and modern and large. There was enough parking for my car. However, I found the staff basically “untrained” and not very professional. When I checked in, I told them my name and that I was checking in, and the lady asked me my name three times and then asked me what day I was checking in, as if her mind was wondering or lost. It was quite unpleasant and very unprofessional from such an expensive hotel for Thailand. Other staff tried hard to help, but you could tell they were not well trained like in most international brand 4 star properties. Since service in what we pay for, mostly, I would rank this hotel 3 stars, certainly not 5; but because of the nice room, it could be 4 star at best. Service needs to improve a lot.

When I checked out, I called for a bellboy to take my bags to my car; the result was like some kind of comedy show, as 3 people could not figure out how to get a luggage cart to my room in a timely manner. I ended up taking one piece of luggage to my car myself and was preparing to take all three.

In a nutshell, if you want to be in the middle of the Pattaya action, noisy and a lot of traffic, and don’t care about noise during your afternoon nap or when watching TV in the evening, and you don’t care much about service quality, this may be your favorite property in Pattaya. However, if you care about service quality and don’t want to be in the middle of bars, noise and traffic, then this is not for you.

Studio suite.

So far, getting started as a student pilot in Thailand has it’s normal challenges. I called the numbers of the recommended aviation medical examiner in Thailand, and could not get through to a working phone for nearly 30 minutes. I only decided to call after my emails were not answered.

Finally, after getting through, I spoke with someone who did not identify herself, but I assumed she was one of the assistants to the examiner. It was hard to understand her and I asked for the direct number of the doctor. She refused to give it to me. Then, I asked for her number and she refused to give that to me as well, saying her telephone was out-of-order. I was a bit shocked that Bangkok Hospital, a private hospital, could offer such poor service. Their phones do not work properly, staff does not answer emails, and the staff does not provide working numbers.

I am beginning to question the wisdom of leaning to fly a small private aircraft in Thailand, LOL.
