WHAT'S ON THAILAND

Ventured to Spasso at the Grand Hyatt Erawan about 11:30pm tonight. They had a cover charge of 750 baht but I walked past them like I had been there all night. Inside, very crowded. Ordered a Merlot and shelled out 460 baht. The Merlot was OK and was not too expensive considering the great people watching.

The scene was a type of business class pickup place, full of not-so-attractive or cool men over 50 dancing and ass-grabbing some hot local girls; all of which were working. There were a few private groups of Thais and a few mixed tables. The dance floor was busy with a lot of over-the-hill men that would never get a second look at most bars, but here they were having the time of their life with really cute girls 30 years their junior.

A fat girl tried to pick me up as I hung by the dance floor enjoying my 460 baht Merlot. I watched the over-the-hill guys having fun, foreign tourists in heaven in a very thick crowd. The dance floor also had a number of high-so gay Thais and their don't-touch-me super model girls dancing and acting goofy high-so Thai.

I ventured over to the back bar and then back to the front bar. As the crowd started to thin, the eye contact action started and soon enough, just about every unattached working female was competing for my attention.

One nice but kinda fat girl (must of been fat-girl night) wrote me a note on a bar coaster, something like "I wish and hope you are OK and having a great time", but I did not know she was a porker at that time. The she came over and talked to me and she immediately realized I was not interested.

Then next girl to catch my eye was a real beauty, dressed to kill with a great body and nice face. We played with our mobiles across the main bar as if we were talking to each other and finally she same over. She had a great body and an ass as hard as a rock. Unfortunately her beautiful face was over sculpted by local surgeons and she explained to me that she planned to get rid of her chin implant because it was too big. It did not take me long to get rid of her and later I saw her leave with one of the over-the-hill guys that looked like a foreign tourist on a business trip.

This type of interplay went on well past my second Merlot. As the place thinned out toward 1pm, closing at 2pm, the same type of situations played out time-and-time again, and I realized it was just another night out in Bangkok with a club full of working girls.

Boring for someone in Thailand for a long time; but obviously a great scene if you are a foreign tourist and want some nice company.

Drinks will set you back around 400 - 500 a pop and you might have to pay the big entry fee if you are not lucky; but the scene is great and I had a great time. The Merlot was better than expected.

Many people consider this scene the best in Bangkok, especially the working girls. I can't say either way, but I had an OK time and enjoyed two nice Merlots, and then look a taxi home alone, happy to be alone!
