Bangkok Forum The city of Bangkok is the capital, largest urban area and primary city of Thailand. Known in Thai as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon, or Krung Thep for short, it was a small trading post at the mouth of the Chao Phraya River during the Ayutthaya Kingdom and came to the forefront of Thailand when it was given the status as the capital city in 1768 after the burning of Ayutthaya, the former kingdom seat and capital of the Ayuthaya province. It was also ranked by "Travel and Leisure," as the best city in the world for the year 2008.

Default David Carradine Dies in Bangkok - Murder or Accidental Death?

David Carradine was found in a Bangkok hotel with his hands bound behind is back in a closet. His neck and penis were bound by ropes. By all news reports, he appears to have been strangled. The question remains, however, did he (1) accidentally strangle himself seeking an autoerotic asphyxiation thrill, (2) accidentally die at the hands of a prostitute helping him seek a thrill, or was he (3) murdered in a way to make the crime look like a sex-related accident?

Here are some things to consider:

First of all, Thailand, like many countries that rely heavily on tourism, is quick to report any death of a foreigner as a suicide. The reason for this is that the authorities believe that if they report deaths as murder this will hurt tourism. For a country that is advertised as "amazing" and a "paradise", murders against tourists are common, and almost all murders are reported as suicides. Most people doubt David Carradine's death was a suicide. He was in great spirits and his career was going well.

Second, it is not unusual or surprising to think that a famous 72 year old man would hire a prostitute for a thrill in Bangkok. There has been a report in the press that, based on a prior divorce filing by his ex-wife, David Carradine enjoyed potentially fatal sexual experiences. So, it is not much of a stretch of the imagination to investigate the very real possibility that David Carradine was a victim of a prostitute who accidentally killed him performing some strange sexual act like auto-erotic asphyxia.

It is highly unlikely that David Carradine purposely killed himself in Bangkok. It is also highly unlikely that David Carradine accidentally killed himself. The more-than-likely scenario is that Carradine was accidentially murdered in some type of auto-erotic asphyxia encounter with a prostitute.

His hotel would have security cameras and it should be easy to investigate to see who entered his room. However, it normally easier for the Thai authorities to simply declare his death self-inflicted, as this is the norm for Thailand. In addition, normally investigations take extra time, time enough for the media focus to shift to other news topics.

Default Photo: It Looks Like Murder!

The photo published by a Thai newspaper, if it is real, seeming disputes the claim that David Carradiine was bound with his hands behind his back. He is bound with his hands above his heads.

Update: This photo, published in the Thai press, has been confirmed as a forensics photo.

Quote:
Local Bangkok Newspaper Thairath, published a photo in it's Saturday, 6 June edition from David Carradine's hotel room.

The photo shows the nude body of a man hanging by the hands. The majority of the body in the photo is censored out. This photo will dispute previous reports that his hands were tied behind his back.

Default Carradine's body returns to US

Quote from the Bangkok Post:

The US Embassy however was not satisfied with the police after they revealed the details of Carradine's death to the media. The police had damaged the deceased actor's reputation and they may have violated human rights, the embassy said.

Default David Carradine death photo has family members outraged

By this news report, it seems that the photo in this thread may be genuine:

David Carradine death photo has family members outraged

Quote:
A Thai tabloid newspaper has reportedly published a photo of actor David Carradine's corpse where he was found hanging in a closet, leading the Hollywood star's family to announce they'll sue any U.S. publication that does likewise.

The picture, which reportedly shows Carradine with his hands tied in front of him, hanging from a closet support bar, was censored in part but, according to RadarOnline.com, still showed sensitive information from the death scene.

The pictures also revealed tattoos on the lower half of his naked body.

Reports indicate the colour of the body would indicate the actor had been dead for some time.

Carradine was a TV icon through the 70's and 80's, starring most famously in the action series, Kung Fu. He enjoyed a career resurgence of sorts when director Quentin Tarantino cast him in the Kill Bill movies.

He was 72 when he passed away.

Default Carradine Divorce Documents

Interesting attachments.

Reading between the lines in the attachments, it seems that David Carradine might have had some behavioral problems, which means there could be a motive for his murder.

Default David Carradine's third wife details auto-erotic past

David Carradine's third wife details auto-erotic past

Quote:
David Carradine's third wife Gail Jensen has stepped forward to echo accounts of his allegedly unconventional sexual history, insisting the late actor had a penchant for auto-erotica throughout their marriage.

The Kill Bill star, 72, was found hanging in his Bangkok hotel room on Thursday; some reports suggest he committed suicide, while local police believe he died accidentally as he took part in a dangerous sex game involving auto-erotic asphyxiation - where victims achieve heightened sexual pleasure by restricting their air supply.

Gail Jensen, who ended her nine year marriage to Carradine in 1997, claims the actor would spend days planning to construct elaborate sexual devices he used to tie himself up.

Speaking in an interview at the weekend, Jensen said: "David was pretty strange. He would like to get tied up. He would tie himself up and I would walk in and see him and say, 'Oh my God, David, you got to be kidding me' - and I would (turn around and) walk out. I would leave him to his own devices. He liked to be tied up. And he could tie himself up... He spent days planning a different feature. He would go to a hardware store and buy the stuff."

Default Big Clue in Carradine's Tied Hands

Seems like this death is more-than-likely an accident, not a murder, "secret society" conspiracy, or otherwise, since there are no reports of violence or anyone else in the room:

Big Clue in Carradine's Tied Hands

Quote:
David Carradine's hands were tied above his head when he died -- turns out, in the world of auto-erotic suspension, it's an easy task to master.

Brent Turvey, a forensic scientist and criminal profiler who has studied auto-erotic asphyxiation, has examined the photo of Carradine's body published in a Thai newspaper. The photo shows the body with a rope around his neck hanging in a closet ... Carradine's hands were tied above his head.

Turvey says it's simple for someone to tie rope around his/her hands, by loosely tying the hands in front -- then raising them up to tighten.

Turvey says undoing the knot is easy as well, allowing for a quick escape.

Turvey says, "By tying his hands above his head, and bending his knees in a sitting position, he can easily stand up and untie his hands with his teeth. Choking in this position is an accident that usually results from the rope being left on the neck a few seconds too long."

Since we first reported Friday that Carradine's hands may have been tied, there has been a lot of speculation it's evidence of foul play. But apparently it's actually consistent with accidental death.

Default Murder theory 'unbelievable'

The Thai police seem to be on the right track, based on all we have seen to date.

Murder theory 'unbelievable'

Quote:
Ongoing attempts by Hollywood star David Carradine's relatives to link his death to secret kung fu sects might have been intended to protect the late actor's name, a Thai official said yesterday.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the official said Carradine's reputation could be hurt if an official investigation concluded he died of a sex game that went wrong.

"This is a big star. He is famous worldwide," the official said.

Congrats to the Thai authorities on doing such a good job on the Carradine case.

Posts on TMZ seem to support the findings of the authorities in Thailand.
